The paper Towards gender balance and equality in the Pacific judiciaries by Human Rights Advisor Dr Carolyn Graydon looks at the barriers that prevent gender equality among judiciaries in the Pacific, including gender bias and how historical and cultural perceptions of women and gender influence the legal system.
The paper includes recommendations towards overcoming these barriers through supported professional development, mentoring, research and admin support, space for work/life balance and a healthy, and fostering respectful working environments.
More than 100 Pacific women judicial officers across courts shared their stories, experiences, and perspectives with Carolyn.
As Carolyn states in the publication, the work is the author's alone and may not represent PJSP or MFAT views.
