Meet the team
Introducing the PJSP kaimahi / staff, and advisors.
The Pacific Justice Sector Programme (PJSP) is a development initiative supported by New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and the Ministry of Justice of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
The PJSP provides leadership development, training and tools and support for judicial officers, court staff and legal advocates from 15 Pacific nations.
The Te Kura PJSP approach is to:
- support engagement and collaboration
- provide culturally and technically relevant support
- facilitate the exchange of good practice and successful approaches, and
- expand engagement with customary justice systems to improve access to, and quality of, justice.
The PJSP brings together three previous regional justice programmes that were funded through the International Development Cooperation Programme:
- the Pacific Judicial Strengthening Initiative (PJSI) – previously administered through the Federal Courts of Australia
- the Judicial Pacific Participation Fund (JPPF) – previously administered through Te Kura
- support for litigation training – which continues to be administered by the Crown Law Office and the Pacific Islands Law Officers Network, (PILON).
Te Kura Kaiwhakawā/Institute of Judicial Studies manages the PJSP programme on behalf of Te Tari Toko i te Tumu Whakawā/The Office of the Chief Justice and the New Zealand judiciary.
