The Ina’ilau part of PJSP's programme focuses on improving access to justice for women and children in the Pacific, specifically Kiribati, Tonga, Palau, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
Ina'ilau supports women and children in the Pacific to have greater practical access to justice through formal and community-based justice initiatives. It also seeks to empower women in Pacific justice sectors through professional development opportunities to develop leadership skills and to encourage more women into leadership roles.
The project’s objectives are:
- expand the reach of courts to provide access to justice for more women and children;
- improve efficiency and transparency of court services in family violence and family-related cases;
- strengthen justice pathways for women and children;
- support quality decision making for the protection of women and children’s human rights;
- support women in the justice sector to access professional development; and
- support women leaders in the justice sector and women into judicial and leadership roles.
